<B>Robert Louis Stevenson: <I>Kidnapped</B></I></B></I> <I>Being Memoirs of the Adventures of David Balfour in the Year 1751</B></I> (Cassell & Company, Limited, 1886), first edition, first issue, 311 pages, modern half-leather binding with marbled boards and gilt spine titles by Whitman Bennett of New York, 12mo (5" x 7.25"). This first issue of <I>Kidnapped</B></I> contains all three textual points consistent with the first issue, including: the word "business" at page 40, line 11; "nine o'clock" at page 64, line 1; and "Islands" at page 101, line 10. The advertisements for other Cassell imprints at rear dated "5G 4.86" and "5B 4.86" cannot be confirmed, as they were likely discarded upon the rebinding. The book is in very good condition, with rubbing to the boards and bumped corners. The textblock is incredibly clean, and includes the original fold-out map at the title page.
