Robert Livingston Autograph Letter Signed "Robt R. Livingston." This 9" x 7.3", two pages handwritten with integral address leaf, dated April 8, 1792 from Clarmont (Ohio). Robert Livingston, known as the "Chancellor", represented New York at the Constitutional Convention and sat on the committee that drafted the Declaration of Independence, although he was called home before he could sign it. This letter is sent to a Reverend Vanderkemp thanking him for his offer to send him a "scarificator." He offers the reverend six black sheep in exchange for this instrument. A wonderful, cordial letter with interesting early farming and trade content. The letter is in Good condition; slight staining on the first page and the address leaf; large tear on the left edge of the address leaf. Wax seal still present, and signature is bold and dark. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
