Robert L. Stevens - Joint Stock of the Delaware & Raritan Canal Company & the Camden and Amboy Rail.
Robert L. Stevens - Joint Stock of the Delaware & Raritan Canal Company & the Camden and Amboy Rail Road Company A 1853 certificate in black on white signed as President by Robert L. Stevens. Stevens was an early railroad pioneer, engineer, inventor and naval architect. Among the earliest of American railroads to be in service, the Camden & Amboy was formed under a charter obtained in 1830 which gave Robert L. Stevens and his brother Edwin a virtual monopoly in railroading between New York and Philadelphia. Numerous early technological improvements were developed and first placed into service on the Camden & Amboy. This is an important early certificate for both the autograph and rail collector. There are three small punch cancellations through the signature. Very Fine. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
