ALS, one page, 8 x 13, February 14, 1927. Handwritten letter from the 32-year-old to fellow poet Henry Newbolt. In part: "Do you prefer any of the enclosed poems to your choice? Or would you care to print any more? I don't mind much, as your book is evidently compiled for a calculated public which you understand better than I do…May I call your attention to my own views on the present & future state of English Poetry as expressed in my two Hogarth Press essays Another Future of Poetry & Contemporary Techniques in Poetry?" In fine condition, with some very staining along the top. The book to which Graves refers, which he co-authored with Laura Riding Jackson, was entitled A Survey of Modernist Poetry, published by W. Heinemann Ltd. in 1927. An extremely early ALS by a major English poet and a major influence on 20th-century Modernist poetry.
