<B>Robert E. Lee Signed <I>Carte de Visite</B></I></B></I> having the General's well-known "<I>R E Lee</B></I>" penned on the obverse. The verso carries Lexington, Virginia's BOUDE & MILEY backmark and is inscribed with the date "20th June 1870". This image, captured by photographer Michael Miley, shows an aging, yet dignified, General Lee with less than four months to live. Miley, a young Army of Northern Virginia veteran, took numerous photographs of Lee, his family, Confederate notables and the nearby Virginia countryside. The most famous image of his career is the well-known portrait of a uniformed Lee astride Traveler. Here is an opportunity to acquire an autographed Lee image with a fascinating post-war history.
