<B>Robert E. Howard <I>Conan the Conqueror</B></I>.</B></I> (New York: Gnome Press, Inc., 1950), first edition, first printing, 255 pages, burgundy cloth with blue lettering on the spine and cover, 8vo (5.5" x 8.25"), dust jacket (in protective Mylar). This is the very first publication of Howard's infamous Conan in book form, and Howard's only novel-length treatment of the Cimmerian warrior-king. The original title of <I>Conan the Conqueror</B></I> was <I>The Hour of the Dragon,</B></I> serialized as such in <I>Weird Tales</B></I> between December 1935 and April 1936. Generally considered one of Howard's better Conan stories. Gnome's release of this volume was followed in succeeding years by the release of four more volumes of Howard's Conan adventures. The book and jacket are about fine, but for some minor edge and spine wear. This is a beautiful copy of an historic publication.
