<B>Robert Crumb - XYZ Comics Complete Half-page Story "Forky O'Donnell" (Kitchen Sink, 1972).</B></I> Of all the many Crumb characters that paraded through the pages of Underground Comix, few are as disturbing as Forky McDonnell. Despite the credit as "That Cute Freckle-Faced Kid", this guy is a real lunatic, a Andy Hardy gone horribly wrong. And watch out for that fork -- yow! In this typically crazy half-pager, our "hero" tries his hand at telling sweet Happy Face a "joke," only to whip out that deadly fork in the last panel. Talk about an "injury to eye" panel -- whoo boy! Oh well... as Crumb himself has said, "It's only lines on paper, folks!" And what lines -- this is a story from Crumb's busiest, most productive period, and it really is a treat to see. The image area, drawn in Crumb's usual mechanical pen style, measures 8" x 6", on a 11" x 7" piece of bristol board. There is a small, light brown stain in the last panel; otherwise, the page in in Excellent condition.
