Kids growing up in the mid-1960s loved bubble gum trading cards, especially if they involved monsters. Naturally, the Topps "Monster Trading Cards" were a big hit at the time -- who knew the artist doing the front of the card would turn out to be the King of the Undergrounds? This was one of young Robert Crumb's first paying jobs outside his gig as production artist for the American Greeting Company. These two illustrations are all type, but they are all Crumb. The first is for card #8, with the caption "Take me in your arms" (the reverse of the printed card showed a four-armed girl), and the second is for card #32, "Come over to my house" (the back of the printed card had a man inside a simmering pot). The art is in india ink and professional colored markers, on this board measuring approximately 3.5" x 4.75". Both were originally glued to a black photo album page, and the #32 piece is lightly stained; overall condition for both is Very Good. Includes examples of both printed cards.

Shipping: Small Flat (view shipping information)
