Robert Crumb - Cheap Thrills Serigraph Print Artist's P
Robert Crumb - Cheap Thrills Serigraph Print Artist's Proof, 15/40 (Wildwood Serigraphs, 1997). This iconic image helped to introduce two powerhouse talents to many people in the late 1960s. Big Brother and the Holding Company were one of many rock bands gigging around San Francisco at the time; they had released one minor-label album with little notice when a showcase spot at the Monterey Pop Festival got them signed to Columbia, one of the biggest labels in the business. Lead singer Janis Joplin was pals with a young, skinny cartoonist who hung around the Haight-Asbury district named Robert Crumb. Janis asked Crumb to provide the cover to the band's new, breakthrough LP, and this was the result. What we have here is a fantastic 24-color serigraph on Rives 280 gram weight 100% cotton archival paper measuring 27" x 28', with an image area of 21" x 21". Only 250 regularly signed and numbered prints were made of this first edition, with another 40 signed artist's proofs; this is Proof Edition number 15, one of several originally presented to Robert Crumb. It's far out, it's "sike-ay-delic"! It's Crumb at his very best, and this beautiful print is in Excellent condition. It comes complete with a certificate of authenticity from the publisher, Wildwood Serigraphs. From the collection of Barry Silbergeld of Art & Love of Music.

Shipping: Large Flat (view shipping information)
