The second a a series of stern portraits, entitled "Holders of Dividends under 5 percent pr annum. laid on the table of the H[ouse] of Commons 25 May 1833." Comes with an original autograph manuscript (unsigned), from an unknown author, which reads in small part "The two sketches enclosed are taken from a colection...by Robert Browning the elder, father of the poet. He was a clerk in the Bank of England & posessed ability as a clever caricaturist. In odd moments on slips of official paper he would dash off the outlines of interesting faces..." Continues with a biographical sketch. The sketches have some light toning. Overall VG. $200-300
