ALS, four pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 6, 32 Prince gate letterhead, July 1, 1911. Handwritten letter to William Henry Rideing, in part: "I don't know how to apologize sufficiently for my absence yesterday. I was called away on urgent business by the telephone. I thought it would be a matter of a few minutes; instead of which I was delayed over half an hour & got back to the Mercers Hall to find that you had just left. I am so very sorry. Thank you very much for the cheque & for your note. I am afraid that the subject you suggest is too difficult a one for me to write upon." Baden-Powell adds a postscript to the first page: "Possibly you might like my sister to write you, re Girl Scouts, which are now starting in America on her lines (see here article in last week's Spectator)." In fine condition.
