Very nice Gouache on Paper. Artist is Robert Atwood. 22.5" by 25.5" framed. Also includes a letter from the artist. Known for landscapes with figures, marine, and also portrait, figure and genre of Native Americans, Robert Atwood was born in Orange, New Jersey, and became a resident of Bartonsville, Vermont. He studied art at the Faucett School of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in Philadelphia. From 1938 to 1941, he was artist in residence at Arizona State College, which became Arizona State University in Tempe. He was a WWI Veteran. During World War II, he was an industrial designer for Western Electric Company. Atwood married Audrey Reader (maiden name). He was also a musician, who played the cello in the Kingsport Symphony Orchestra. He painted in Massachusetts and California where he was a member of the Gloucester and Laguna Beach Art Associations. He has a distinguished exhibition history, having shown works at the National Academy of Design in New York City, the Pennsylvania Academy, the Montclair, New Jersey Museum and in Arizona at Northern State University at Flagstaff.
