<B>Robert Anderson - Signed Photo and Signature</B></I> of the commanding officer who surrendered Fort Sumter, the battle that started the Civil War. Offered here is a fine group of items. First is a CDV signed on the front "<I>Robert Anderson Brig Gen U.S.A.</B></I>" and also on the back "<I>Your's [sic] respectfully Robert Anderson Brig Gen U.S.A</B></I>" above a handwritten history of his service in the Army. The second item is a clipped closing to a letter signed "<I>Respectfully, Your Obt Servt, Robert Anderson Maj Gen USA</B></I>" (ink smeared). Next is an ALS of transmittal from his wife, signed "<I>Mrs. Anderson</B></I>" in the third person, sending the CDV as requested to famous autograph collector and writer Lewis J. Cist. Also in this lot are two period engravings and a clipped contemporary article regarding the Fort Sumter battle. Except where noted, all in fine to Very Fine condition.
