This fine composition by Robert Amrein (1896-1945) is titled “Winter ade [Goodbye Winter]”. The ground is only partly covered with snow in this mountainous landscape with a meadow and houses. The first rays of spring apparently melted most of the snow. Leaves have also started growing on the trees again. The sun is not seen however, so that the sky and entire landscape are immersed in a dim light.

The painting is signed lower right, “R. Amrein”. It is in good condition with only minimal traces of age. The surface displays fine craquelure and the edges show losses of colour and touch ups. There is also minimal loss of colour around the sky. The painting measures 50 x 65.5 cm.
