Riverside Croesus Emerald Pressed Glass Set
A collection of three Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG) vessels manufactured by the Riverside Glass Works of Wellsburg, West Virginia, in the Croesus pattern, circa 1897. The set comprises an emerald green pressed glass handled mug, a cylindrical tumbler, and a small flared cup. Each piece is decorated with ornate mold-pressed motifs including scrolling shells, diamond latticework, and foliate scrolls, further enhanced by hand-applied gilt highlights. Two of the vessels feature wheel-engraved cursive souvenir inscriptions, characteristic of the late 19th-century souvenir glass trade. The handled mug and the flared cup feature a pressed sunburst design on the underside, while the tumbler is finished with a smooth, recessed base. This pattern is a significant example of late Victorian pressed glass design transitioning into the Art Nouveau period. Dimensions: Not provided.
