(Disneyland, c.1960s) An original animatronic dog from the "Indian Settlement" scene of Disneyland's Rivers of America. These scene was composed of a few animatronic and static figures as well as prop teepees and canoes, which gave park guests a glimpse at a recreated Indian village. The "Indian Settlement" could be seen from the "Mark Twain", "Sailing Ship Columbia", and the "Indian War Canoes", and could even be glimpsed from the "Disneyland Railroad". Within the village were a few of these animatronic dogs. One appeared on a canoe with a young Indian boy, and another stood on a log in the center of the settlement. These dogs were refurbished or replaced over time, and throughout the years various color schemes and patterns were used. This dog has had its mechanics restored so that the tail wags when plugged in. The animatronic dog comes on a custom base and measures 28" tall, 46" long, and 13" wide. The condition is very good, with some expected wear from park use.
