Actress (1912–1965) whose career came almost to a complete stop after a 1948 accident (a hair dryer fell on her head) that required delicate brain surgery. Her screen time in movies after that was limited due to her reduced mobility and powers of concentration. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 MGM publicity photo, signed and inscribed in-person in fountain pen “To Sol: – Best wishes, Rita Johnson.” Reverse of photo bears collector’s stamp date of May 25, 1940, the date the signature was acquired. In fine condition, with some scattered light surface marks and dings.
