While several small notes are known from this Starr County valley community thanks to a group in the Irish holdings, only one large example from here has ever been confirmed, with that piece long off the market as part of the Philpott/Moody Foundation holdings. The discovery of this lovely note assures collectors that one fortunate individual will now have the opportunity to add a large note from this one-bank town to his holdings. This bank, the only one to issue in one of the poorest counties in the entire nation, circulated just 960 sheets, and, by the time the bank closed in 1933 had but $500 outstanding in large notes.
