Four gold bullion receipts from this important competitor of the major assay houses who was located literally just down the street from the Kellogg & Houston office. All four of these bullion receipts were for gold bars deposited by C.T.H. Palmer, Wells Fargo Agent at Folsom. Except for one they are remarkably high in gold fineness at 903-955 fine. The one exception was 845 fine.
Riehn, Hemme & Company got its start in 1862, interestingly, in the same building where Hentsch & Burton had an office. By 1865 they were one of a dozen assay firms operating in S.F.
