Rick Fletcher - Dick Tracy Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 10-11-81 (Chicago Tribune, 1981). Atomic energy is the theme of this Sunday strip. Chester Gould was always on the cutting edge of technological innovations from the two-way wrist radio, to the magnetic air cars, and the space coupe, Dick's gadgets could make Batman and James Bond green with envy! Diet Smith feels he has cracked the problem of safe and inexpensive atomic fusion, and Dick recalls the role atomic energy has played in his crime-fighting hardware. This lot is accompanied by a carbon copy of a letter written by Rick Fletcher, wherein he details his contributions to this strip. It reads in part, "It should be noted that two of the three atomic energy panels in the Oct. 11, 1981 Sunday Dick Tracy page were Rick Fletcher contributions -- 2-way wrist TV, 1964; night-sight, 1980; the other panel was an ancient Chester Gould 1946 idea." The image area of the strip is 20.5" x 14", and the art is in Excellent condition. From the collection of Larry Doucet.
