This excellent quality coin silver ladle is marked twice, &#34;I*NR&#34; &#40;see Fales, fig. 135&#41; and also marked with an unrecorded mark of 2 hearts being pierced by an arrow. With a rounded end and Period-engraved &#34;MSR&#34;; 14¼ in. long, approximately. 6.2 oz. troy &#40;195 g&#41;. Joseph Richardson, Jr &#40;1752-1831&#41; and Nathaniel &#40;1754-1827&#41; worked in partnership, continuing the business of their father, Joseph, Sr &#40;1711-1784&#41;. The third mark on this ladle may be a continuation of Joseph, Sr.&#39;s practice of using an additional mark as a kind of assay mark to assure customers of the fineness of the silver.
