Richard Watson, An Apology for the Bible
Richard Watson, An Apology for the Bible, in a Series of Letters, Addressed to Thomas Paine, Author of a Book Entitled, The Age of Reason, Part the Second, Being an Investigation of True and of Fabulous Theology (New York: T. and J. Swords, 1796), U.S. edition, 178 pages, marbled boards with brown-leather spine and gold lettering, 16mo (6.25" x 4"). Reverend Richard Watson (1737-1816), the Anglican Bishop of Llandaff, defends organized Christianity against the deistic principles of Paine in part two of The Age of Reason (1795), which argues that the Bible is, not a divinely inspired work, but a work of literature. The book is in good condition with considerable wear on the binding and some acidification in the paper.

Shipping: Books & Catalogs (view shipping information)
