Confederate general (1826–1879) and the son of President Zachary Taylor. Civil War–dated LS signed “R. Taylor,” one page, 5 x 8, October 21, 1864. Letter to Governor Charles Clark of Mississippi. In part: “I have ascertained that import duties on goods and export dues on cotton must be paid to the Confederate States collector…this knowledge will doubtless have its influence with you in arranging both prices of supplies received and cotton bought by you for purpose of exchange.” In fine condition, with a small spot to the lower left.
