TLS as president signed “RN,” one page, 6.75 x 9, White House letterhead, August 6, 1973. Letter to his friend, the financier Jack Dreyfus, in part: "It is most gracious of you to invite Pat and me to revisit your beautiful home on Minot's Osland. We have spoken often of the delightful time we spent there several years ago and we know how enjoyable it would be for us to come again. While we must forego another such visit at this time, Pat and I thank you for your thoughtfulness." In fine condition, with a light paperclip impression to upper left corner. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Nixon was unable to go on vacation because his administration had just been thrown into turmoil—just four days earlier, Vice President Spiro T. Agnew had been informed of an investigation into his activities while serving as governor of Maryland. Agnew resigned on August 10th, becoming the first major political casualty of Nixon's second term. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
