Influential journalist and writer of fiction and drama (1864–1916). Vintage matte-finish 3.75 x 5.5 three-quarter-length portrait of Davis affixed to its original 6.25 x 9 Pach Bros. mount, humbly signed and inscribed on the mount in black ink, “To the man who made ‘The Dictator,’ from one who helped, Richard Harding Davis.” In good to very good condition, with a heavy central vertical crease and crack, and light scattered foxing. An outstanding association, as Collier starred in the stage play The Dictator, which Davis had written. Provenance: William Collier Family Collection.
