#241 for 100 shares to William Schwartz in 1907. Signed by secretary Clay Tallman and president L. O. Ray. Two important Nevadans. SENATOR TALLMAN was a lawyer from Nevada and was a member of the Nevada State Senate from 1909 to 1913, serving as President pro tempore during his last session. In 1912 he ran for the United States House of Representatives. He was Commissioner of the United States General Land Office from 1913 to 1921. Tallman was appointed Commissioner on May 27, 1913 by Woodrow Wilson. JUDGE RAY had "pitched his tent in practically every Central and Southern Nevada mining camp. In Who's Who in Nevada it was said, "A mining excitement in Southern Nevada would not be the real thing if Judge Ray were not there." He was actually a judge and sat on the bench for the famous George Graham Rice trail. TALLMAN and RAY were associates as late as 1930 during Nevada's last mining boom in Wahmonie. (Ames Collection)
