Rhymney Railway small framed cast brass crest from the Eric Mountford collection. It illustrates the full Company title coat of arms and is 91/2" square. It was cast from a drawing of 1901 by Daniel Meredith, the Company's Chief Draughtsman, and is stamped "DM. 1901". In a wooden frame 131/2" square. Only 2 or 3 of these crests were made. Note The Rhymney Railway opened in 1858 to operate a line from Cardiff to Rhymney, and branches. It was grouped into the GWR in 1922.
