Rhode Island July 5, 1715 Redated 1737 2s/6d Very Fine-Extremely Fine. This July 5, 1715 Redated 1737 issue was represented in the Ford Collection only by reprints. This genuine issued example is the only piece this cataloger has seen in forty-plus years of dealing in Colonial Currency. Two of the three signatures remain clear, as does every word of the text. The elaborately engraved back vignette is razor-sharp and perfect with the only distraction being a stain at its very bottom. This stain shows on both sides and very nearly obliterates the top signature on the face. The two clear signatures are those of Jahleel Brenton and William Coddington. The note is problem-free save for the aforementioned stain and two minor thinned areas that affect nothing. If a finer example of this note exists, we are certainly unaware of it. An irreplaceable treasure for the advanced Rhode Island collector or Colonial-area generalist.
