In this application for a grant of land, former soldier John Michael writes: <I>“I John Michael do on this 9th day of March 1796 apply to the Donation Land Office of Penna for the Donation Land to which I am entitled for my service as a…in the Penna Line of the late Army of the United States”.</B></I> Below Michael’s handwriting is the following: "<I>Received March 9th 1796 John Stewart James Trimble</B></I>". The verso includes the following: “Application of John Michael Soldier for his Donation Land March 9th 1796”. The document is in good condition with minor separations at the folds, some chips on the borders, and a wax stain at middle right. <I>From the collection of Henry E.
