Revolutionary War-dated manuscript DS, one page, 7.75 x 6.25, May 22, 1780. Pay order issued to Aaron Benjamin. In full: “Pay Lieut. Aaron Benjamin Nineteen hundred & nine Pounds eleven Shillings Cont. Curr’y and charge the State.” Signed at the conclusion by a committee member and an auditor, and signed on the reverse by Benjamin upon receipt of the money. Cloth-matted and framed with a color image of ‘The Spirit of ’76’ and a small plaque to an overall size of 23 x 14.5. Intersecting folds, scattered toning, and some show-through from endorsement and docketing on reverse, otherwise fine condition. Benjamin enlisted in the Revolutionary War in 1775 and served until 1815 as a part of several Connecticut regiments.
