Revolutionary War pay certificate for African-American soldier Jack Little, who served in the Connecticut line of the Continental Army in an all-black company under Captain David Humphreys, later aide-de-camp to General George Washington. Partly printed document signed by Jack Little on verso with an ''x'' mark and also by ''J Lawrence'' as Treasurer. Datelined Treasury Office [Hartford] Connecticut, 1 June 1782. Singe-page document measuring 7.5'' x 4'' has circular punch cancellation, two folds and uneven left edge. Very good condition.
