<Our item number 104803><B>Congress Regiment Voucher and Pay Order.</B> Document Signed by the selectmen of New Milford &#40;Conn.&#41;, 30 Dec. 1780, 7x8¼&#34;, certifying &#34;That Georg Clapham of New Milford Served in the Contanental Army In the Congress Regt. So called Commmanded by Col. Hazen Before the first Day of January 1780.&#34; Clapham signs below a note asking that the money due him be paid to Jared Baldwin. An extremely rare document with mention of the Congress Regiment commanded by Col. Hazen. Accompanied by a partly-printed receipt from the Pay-Table Committee, 6½x8¾&#34;, Hartford, 8 Apr. 1784, signed by Baldwin for £58.2.7 received &#34;In behalf of George Clapham.&#34; &#40;2 items&#41;<BR><BR>George Clapham enlisted in William Satterlee&#39;s company of Col. Samuel Elmore&#39;s regiment on 16 Apr. 1776. The regiment proceeded to garrison Fort Stanwix; Satterlee&#39;s company was later garrisoned at Johnstown, NY. On 15 Dec. 1776 Satterlee enlisted in Col. Hazen &#39;s regiment and on 25 Dec., George Clapham joined him. Clapham&#39;s official enlistment date in Congress&#39; Own Regiment is 1 Jan. 1777. the regiment served generally with Washington&#39;s main Army.
