Son of Ercole Teodoro and Orsina Sforza di Caravaggio, Antonio Teodoro, third Prince of Musocco, pursued a military career with Spain as had his father. He was given the captaincy of the Italo-Spanish heavy cavalry by Felipe IV and on his father’s death in 1664 (in the prisons of Lodi), became General of the Militias. A short time after, Antonio Teodoro was named a Grandee of Spain and awarded the Order of the Golden Fleece. He was granted the small Lombard fief of Retegno by the emperor, but did not began to exercise mint rights until 1676. Not yet 30, he died on the 26th of July 1678 in mysterious circumstances. His brief but exceptional and attractive coinage was minted in gold and silver in several denominations, all which are highly prized by collectors. NGC Certification Number 2146360-001
