<B>Republic of Texas Army Pay Certificate</B></I> issued to Captain William John Elliott, Columbia, Republic of Texas, October 24, 1836, 5.25” x 4.25” (including glazed frame 10” x 9”). Captain Elliott was the commander of a company of cavalry volunteers in Green's Brigade, Army of the Republic of Texas. The brigade was under the command of Brigadier General Thomas Jefferson Green. The certificate, for $126, was in payment for service from August 14 - October 16, 1836.
