Reproduction Percussion Kentucky Rifle, by R. Southgate, #196, .52 cal., 38'' octagonal barrel with buckhorn style sights, marked ''R + Southgate'' flanked by arrows on top flat; complete lock and nipple bolster are missing; brass furniture includes finger-rest triggerguard, trigger and floorplate, engraved right-side patchbox with hinged door opening to butt trap containing linen for patches, crescent buttplate, nosecap, and three ferrules retaining the brass-tipped hickory ramrod; red-stained and varnished hardwood (likely maple) fullstock has raised aprons on either side of lock, scroll carving behind the raised cheekpiece, and three engraved German-silver 1-3/8'' diamond inlays. Condition is about good. Barrel retains approx. 98% original browning, brass has a light patina. Stock is sound and smooth. Action is missing; bore is brilliant with sharp rifling. Tennesseean Roland Southgate was a renowned maker of Kentucky-style rifles from after WWII to his death in the late 1970s. Est.: $100-$200. (No FFL Required)
