Original Report of Target Practice in the Gulf of Mexico 1864. One page, 16 x 12.5, one sided, in ink, dated January 13, 1864, some old fold creases, else in fine condition. A record of naval target practice written onboard the U. S. steamer Antona off Sabine Pass on the Texas gulf coast. The record includes a box score of hits, misses, dud shells, etc. and the weather and sea conditions on the day in question. In the lower left corner is a diagram of the floating target complete with dimensions. The steamer Antona from which the gunnery practice was scored was actually a prize ship captured by the Union navy as it attempted to break the blockade off the coast of Alabama. She was impressed into the Union navy and served with distinction capturing several prize ships.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
