Very early Colorado religious document! Perhaps the first Episcopal report from the Territory. The First Report of Bishop Randall, of Colorado, to the Board of Missions of the Protestant Episcopal Church, October 1866. 24 pages with string binding. Printed in New York by Sanford, Harroun & Co. Starts by detailing his journey from Boston to Colorado (with visits in Denver, Golden City, Central City, Empire City, Canon City, etc.) He ends up asking the church for $40,000: half to create an institution in Denver, "embracing a residence for the Bishop, quarters for the collegiate mission, a training school for candidates for the ministry, and accommodations for a girls' school; ten thousand for the support of missionaries, and ten thousand to aid in the erection of churches." As he mentions earlier, "our immediate and pressing want is CHURCHES! In every considerable place in the Territory the people desire to have an Episcopal church." Cover page is stamped "discarded" by the New Hampshire State Library. Some creases to the pages. Fascinating document!
