Reno, NV - $10 1902 Date Back Fr. 618 The Nixon NB Ch. # (P)8424
This note is on the much scarcer first title for this charter number. The signatures are darkly printed while the note exhibits even circulation, save for an approximate half inch split above the portrait. This private named bank was founded by George S. Nixon who was also president at the same time of the First National Bank of Winnemucca, Nevada. The Winnemucca bank was robbed of $33,000 by the outlaws Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in September 1900. Newspaper accounts credit Nixon with shooting at the famous bank robbers. Nixon would also go on to become a United States Senator from Nevada. This lot is accompanied by photocopies of articles from Bank Note Reporter and Coins Magazine that mention George S. Nixon. Fine.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
