Remington model 1870 Rolling Block pistol, .50 caliber centerfire, 7” barrel, showing browned finish with Damascus pattern, case hardened frame, plain wood stocks, no markings or serial numbers, believed to bepatent model or experimental for the 1870 model. The barrel shows 30-50% original brown finish with damascene type striping, some light erosion, pinprick pitting. The frame shows 10-20% case hardening drifting tosilver with some like erosion and pinprick pitting on the barrel. The stocks are fair to good showing some even wear and use, the grip stock is slightly undersized and a lighter color than the forend, which is darkand shows some nicks and mars. The action is good, smooth bore, never rifled barrel. Several other slight differences in configuration and milling. An intriguing example. From the Jerry Landskron collection. Est: $1,500 - $3,000
