Remington model 1148, 28 gauge semi-automatic shotgun fully and finely master engraved and gold inlaid signed Paul Jaeger, Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. The gun shows a 26” barrel and is choked full with a ventilated rib. The Remington is nicely custom stocked in Burl Walnut and shows a checkered wood butt plate and pistol grip cap. The frame shows elaborate engraving and gold inlays of a hunting dog flushing game birds surrounded by gold scrolls, the top of the frame and right side of the frame show game birds in flight surrounded by flush gold European scroll borders. The barrel is engraved 7” towards the muzzle with gold borders. The frame is finished in French gray and the barrel is blue. The gun remains in very good plus to near fine condition showing some minor scratches and losses in the varnish of the stock mostly towards the rear of the butt (about $200 worth of restoration to make the stock excellent). The stock measures 13 ¾” to the end of the wood and 14 1/8” to the end of checkered wood butt plate. Paul Jaeger at one time held the world record for custom arm and sold in America and he was considered among the finest European trained craftsman to ever work in this country. Est.: $4,000-$8,000.
