Remington bayonet and leather scabbard for a rolling block rifle by Ames, approx. 25” overall with an approx. 20” blade, maker marked, USN, 1870 and “GGS” inspected in overall good condition showing some scattered areas of erosion, brassgrip with “JJ” marking on cross guard; leather scabbard is fair + with a fold at the middle of the leather and scattered worn areas, good seam, complete brass throat and tip with pleasing patina and some scattered dents and scratches from carry and storage. Interesting old collection tag attached that states “Bayonet issued exclusively to U.S. battleship Honduras ______ the Remington Rolling block 50/70 caliber Scarce 1870, 22,000 made ..” Est.: $150-$300.
