Remington U.S. percussion musket with Maynard priming device, .70 cal., 41” barrel, three barrel bands, iron ramrod, sling swivels, wood stock, barrel and lockplate dated 1857. This gun is in overall good condition showing an old cleaning to metal surfaces, good action, Maynard priming device working at time of description; wood is overall good with scattered old mars and scratches from carry and storage; remnants of both inspector cartouches on left side of stock above trigger and remnant of inspector cartouche behind the trigger guard still visible; P proof over eagle head at breech on barrel and “JT” at breech visible with “SD” at front of trigger guard, “US” on top of butt plate and most of Remington address on back of lockplate with “S” on left side plate.
