American made single-action rimfire revolver chambered for .30 Rimfire Short, manufactured in Ilion, NY. Approximately 3,000 'New Model No. 1 Revolvers' were produced between 1873 and 1888. Revolver features a polished nickel finish, a 2-13/16" ribbed octagon barrel, color-case hardened hammer and trigger, spur-triggered action, checkered hammer spur, checkered trigger, smooth grip straps, 13/16" long fluted five-round cylinder, knurled ejector rod head, and checkered brown hard rubber grips. The frame, barrel, and ejector housing are all one piece. The markings on top of the barrel rib is marked "E.REMINGTON & SONS. ILION.N.Y. PAT. W.S.SMOOT. OCT.21.1873." The nickel finish is about 89% with minor scratches, some losses with some on the grip butt, and losses on the left side of the frame where there is a seam between the upper and lower half of the frame. Metal displays small scattered spots of rust. Pistol shows deformation in the screw slot of the ejector rod spring retainer screw, and there are a couple of deep nicks along the barrel. The bore has rifling, but it appears to have some pitting. The hard rubber Bird's head grip panels are in excellent condition. The cylinder rotates intermittently and the lock-up is loose. The Remington markings are sharp and crisp. This may need some replacement parts to have it working properly.
Condition is NRA Fair.
