Remington-Rider Single Action Magazine Pistol

Manufactured from 1871 to 1888, with a total production of approximately 10,000, the Rider pistol was a Joseph Rider invention that is one of the most unusual Nineteenth Century pocket pistols and one of the first handguns to feature a tube magazine. Magazine loads from the muzzle end. Standard two-line address and patent markings on top of the barrel rib which reads "E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N.Y./RIDERS PAT. AUG. 15, 1871". All nickel finish and fitted with smooth two-piece grips. Interesting enough the Remington magazine pistol is one of the few American firearms where engraved examples are more commonly encountered than the unembellished, plain example, such as this one.

Excellent. The pistol retains 97% original nickel finish showing loss on the front of the magazine and limited light flaking. The grips are very fine with a few minor handling marks and retaining most of the finish. Mechanically excellent.
