Remington New Model Pocket Third Type Percussion Revolver, #10971, .31 cal., 3.5" octagon barrel, blue finish, smooth two-piece rosewood grips, half-moon blade front sight, with fixed "V"-notched rear sight. All iron parts, no brass. Barrel address is marked in two-lines "PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858. MARCH 17, 1863/E. REMINGTON & SONS ILION, NEW YORK. U.S.A./NEW MODEL". Matching numbers on left side of the grip frame and underside of the barrel. Revolver is in very good overall condition, displaying approx. 70% of an old, quality reblued finish on at least the barrel and cylinder, with scattered mild surfaces blemishes and handling marks. "New Model" and serial number on the barrel are weak, rest of the factory lettering is clear. Grips show moderate handling marks, general blistering/texture to the finish. There is a small brass disc inset into the top of the right grip panel. Action is crisp and cycles smoothly. Bore is primarily bright, with very good rifling, and moderate erosion at the muzzle end of the barrel. Est.: $500-$700. (Antique) (Michael Strietbeck Collection)
