Remington New Model Army Conversion Revolver with V.L. and A. Holster
Shortly after the Civil War many of these revolvers were converted to accept metallic cartridges. The cylinder was altered and a conversion plate was dovetailed into the breech with a hole for the hammer firing pin. This conversion was number 5 and that number is marked on the barrel, trigger guard, hammer, and frame. This particular revolver does not have the ejector rod. The top barrel flat has the two line patent date/address over "NEW MODEL". There are various small military inspector marks still visible on some of the parts. Blade sight, brass trigger guard and smooth grip with traces of a cartouche. Complete with a brown leather open top holster stamped "V.L.&A. CHICAGO" on the front and "G1328 / 7 1/2" on the single belt loop.
