Remington New Model Army Cartridge Conversion 5-Shot Single Action Revolver, with extra percussion cylinder, #98317,.46 RF cal., 8" octagon barrel, gray patina, brass trigger guard, smooth walnut two-piece grips, "pinched" blade front sight, fixed "V"-notch rear sight. Lower left grip panel with "OWA" cartouche. Inspector proofs "W" on rear left frame flat, "R" on left flat of frame at breech, "D" on left rear flat of barrel, "R" on right barrel flat at frame and also on right frame flat. Top of barrel is marked in three-lines "PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858/E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION NEW YORK. U.S.A./NEW MODEL". Matching visible numbers on left side of the grip frame, underside of barrel, and cylinder face. Includes a .44 caliber percussion cylinder, numbered "9013". Revolver is in good condition, displaying a pleasing gray and brown patina to the metal surfaces, with traces of blue finish to the cylinder, scattered mild etching, and handling marks. Factory markings are clear. Percussion cylinder is mostly gray with light rust visible around the nipples and in the chambers, with mild pinprick pitting. Grips are good with scattered old mars and scratches, with a few spots of dark oil staining, cartouche is clear. Action is crisp and cycles smoothly. Bore is primarily bright, with some areas of light erosion, rifling is clearly defined and good overall. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (Antique) (Michael Strietbeck Collection)
