This is a custom Remington model 37 "Rangemaster" target rifle chambered in .22 LR. Manufactured 1937-55. Built by Don Kaufmann of Durango, Colo. Don, a machinist and tool & die maker, started building rifles in the 1950's. Eventually he focused primarily on bench-rest rifles for competitions. This rifle was used by his son Pat used this rifle during high school in Durango and college at Oregon State University, these are some of the competitions won with this rifle. High scorer on the 1962 OSU National champion small bore rifle team, Secretary of the Navy NROTC Rifle competition- Individual high score Nationally and Winner 1963 Colorado State Position small bore rifle championship.. It features a 28" Douglas premium heavy barrel with four sight/optics bases installed on the barrel and receiver. Canjar trigger installed, manual safety, cocking indicator, serrated wide trigger shoe installed, 5 round detachable magazine. Target thumbhole stock with finger grooved grip, beavertail forearm with accessory rail, adjustable buttplate with thin White-Line recoil pad, right-handed cheek rest and competition palm rest. Action is smooth, bore is excellent, wood is near excellent with a few very minor scratches and the blue is about 96% with some handling wear to the bottom metal/triggerguard. A very Accurate and well maintained rifle. Comes with paperwork/photo to confirm the above history.
