Remington Model 1890 SA revolver, 44-40 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, nickel finish, checkered black hard rubber grips with RA monogram panels, #NVSN. This gun is in overall very good to fine untouched condition showing approx. 85% original nickel with most of the loss of finish on the recoil shield, loading gate and left side of the back part of the frame where a right handed shooter would have held the gun and rested his thumb. The bore is very good, the action crisp, the markings very good and the revolver retains its lanyard ring. The grips are worn but good and show an old common loss on the left grip at the bottom where the frame pin entered the grip and a small crack on the bottom of the right grip again where the frame pin is situated. The gun is accompanied by a great period single loop holster marked “Jos Sullivan, Ft. Benton, M.T.” and a matching cartridge money belt marked “Jos. Sullivan” both in very good condition and showing wear indicative of the gun being forever with this holster. A really great rig from an old estate where the paperwork from the gun was lost. It is our recollection that this may have history to a US Marshal in the Montana Territory however, the rig is being estimated at its market value with no history implied. Should additional documentation be recovered from the estate prior to auction, it will be announced. Provenance: from the Chris Anderson collection who purchased it directly from the family of the original owner. Est.: $10,000-$20,000.
