): Remington Model 1888 single action revolver, 44-40 cal., 5-3/4” barrel, nickel plated, wood grips, one of approx. 700 produced, #30. The 1888 shows Model 75 type barrel address, no lanyard in butt and no caliber marking on left side of frame with 1890 type cutaway to web of ejector rod housing; only in the last two decades have these model 1888’s been given their own designation by Remington experts; approx. 20%-30% original nickel remains drifting to a light patina with scattered light to moderate pitting; the barrel address is legible, the front sight trimmed slightly; the grips have been lightly refinished and show some slight losses; the action is working, the bore is slightly rough, the pistol shows some good honestfrontier use.
